Fontanello began his career with Deportivo Español in Argentina’s lower divisions before moving onto Club Atletico Tigre and Santiago Wanderers.
His performances for Tigre during the 2008/09 season caught the attention of Parma’s scouts describing him as a “skillful Materazzi” and he signed a pre contract with Parma in February 2009.
However due to passport issues Fontanello is yet to make his Serie A debut for the club.
