Tuesday, 10 August 2010Friendly: Parma 1-1 Shakhtar Donetsk

51′ Moreno (SHK), 75′ Paonessa (PAR)

Parma put in a good performance against Shakhtar Donetsk tonight and Pasquale Marino will come away from the match know alot more about how his team plays together.

The attacking trio of Giovinco, Lucarelli and Marqués needed sometime to gel and particularly Giovinco at times didn’t seem to know what his role was as he began running almost aimlessly for the ball.

While at the back the defence seem to suffer particularly from the pace of the Shakhtar attack. But it wasn’t until the second half that they took advantage of this with Moreno pouncing on a defensive mix up between Paci and Lucarelli.

Marqués who was perhaps the most impressive player on the pitch formed a formidable partnership with Antonelli down the left hand side and constantly caused Shakhtar problems whenever they got forward.

It was from this link up that Parma’s equaliser came with fifteen minutes to go as Gabriele Paonessa connected with a cross to steer the ball past Khudzhamov.

One worrying point however is that Galloppa had to be substituted early in the second half after twisting his knee into an awkward position and will have to wait to see the full extent of the damage.
