Parma suffered their first defeat in five games when they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against AS Roma this afternoon.

Alessandro Lucarelli’s early booking means that he’ll miss Parma’s first match of the new year against Juventus and it was Roma who had much of the first half action with Vucinic and Brighi both going close to scoring.

Roma then took the lead immediately after half time when Burdisso managed to squeeze in a shot from a corner that somehow deflected it’s way into the net.

Parma struggled to create many chances with Bojinov’s weak effort from Galloppa’s knock down being their only real attempt at an equaliser.

Paci was then sent off 5 minutes from the end after a second bookable offense and Roma immediately made the advantage count by scoring a second. Former Parma player Matteo Brighi secured the three points with a right footed strike fromĀ  a Vucinic assist.

The result means that Parma end the year in 5th dropping a place due to Roma’s superior goal difference and looking forward to the clash with Juventus in January.
