Sunday, 10 January 2010Serie A: Livorno 2-1 Parma
23′ Tavano (L), 61′ C Lucarelli (L), 68′ Dzemaili (P)
Parma slumped to a 2-1 away defeat to Livorno this afternoon thanks to a controversial goal by Cristiano Lucarelli.
Parma had a number of opportunities to take the lead in the opening 20 minutes with Dzemaili’s freekick going just wide and Paci having a header cleared off the line. Biabiany also came close with a counter attack that was smothered by De Lucia.
Livorno took the lead when Tavano’s snapshot from outside the area beat Mirante at his far post. Parma should have scored the equaliser on the half hour mark but Antonelli’s effort was incorrectly flagged offside.
However it was Cristiano Lucarelli that extended Livorno’s lead on the hour mark. Springing the offside trap from a through ball down the right beating Mirante at his near post.
Amoruso nearly got one back for Parma when his effort clipped the outside of the post with De Lucia beaten.
Parma did manage to get a goal back when a corner fell to Dzemaili outside the area with his shot taking a deflection on the way in to beat De Lucia.
Despite pouring forward in the final 20 minutes Parma were unable to find an equaliser and left the Armando Picchi empty handed.
