Sunday, 14 March 2010Serie A: Parma 1-0 Atalanta
71′ Bojinov (PAR)
Parma effectively secured safety from relegation with a 1-0 win against Atalanta this afternoon.
Christian Zaccardo should’ve put Parma ahead after 12 minutes, beating the offside trap only to fire straight over the bar.
Davide Lanzafame also came close on the half hour mark with his shot forcing a finger tip save out of Consingli.
Atalanta also had a number of opportunities with Cristiano Doni forcing a reaction save out of Mirante from a dangerous corner.
It was substitute Valeri Bojinov who finally broke the deadlock, meeting Crespo’s low cross with a sublime header at the back post.
Things got worse for Atalanta when Doni got himself sent off for dissent but that didn’t stop them trying for the equaliser.
Crespo nearly doubled Parma’s lead in injury time but somehow managed to schew his shot wide with the keeper beaten.
