Zenoni To Cagliari?

This morning, Cagliari have shown interest in Parma’s Damiano Zenoni. Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi said after Sunday’s friendly that now was the time for players who were discontent at the club to leave so it seems an offer from Cagliari would be considered by the Crociati.

Since joining Parma, Zenoni has found it hard to win over the fans and indeed the managers, and was often benched behind Ferdinand Coly who he was signed to replace. Due to a centre-back injury and suspension crisis late on last season though, Damiano was employed in the centre of defence and many felt he did a better job in that position than the suspended Fernando Couto and injured Giulio Falcone. However, by then Parma’s fate was already doomed.

Zenoni joined Parma from Udinese at the beginning of last season in a straight swap deal with Damiano Ferronetti who instantly rediscovered his form when arriving at the Friuli. Zenoni started out his career at Atalanta with whom he made 209 appearances in 8 seasons. He then moved to Udinese in 2005, and Parma 2 season later.
