Sunday, 29 August 2010Serie A: Parma 2-0 Brescia
12′ Bojinov (P), 48′ Morrone (P)
Parma kicked off their 2010/11 Serie A campaign with a solid 2-0 win against a Brescia side that always struggled to get anything out of the game due to an outstanding league debut from Sebastian Giovinco.
It only took ten minutes for Valeri Bojinov to give Parma the lead thanks to a delightful throughball from Sebastian Giovinco. This allowed Bojinov to round the keeper before putting the ball in the net.
Brescia’s only real chances came from set pieces as Diamanti went close from a freekick on 20 minutes. Paci then almost gave away the equaliser after his clearance header went narrowly wide of Mirante’s left hand post.
But it was Stefano Morrone that doubled Parma’s lead in first half injury time after connecting with Lucarelli’s goal mouth header from a Giovinco freekick.
Bresica nearly got a goal back straight after half time as Caracciolo flicked a cross across the goal that had Mirante scrambling to make contact before Zaccardo cleared.
Marqués came close to scoring on his debut following up on Bojinov’s superb individual effort only to hit the side netting. Giovinco again came close from a freekick on the hour mark this time hitting the woodwork.
Francesco Valiani almost finished off the game for Parma in the final ten minutes after intercepting a Brescia backpass only to fire straight at the keeper.
